And we are also producer of PartnerConnect and Emerging Manager conferences, in which institutional investors and general partners meet and discuss the latest trends and potentially invest in the next new venture fund.
At VCJ, we guide investors and others from the venture community on ways to operate, succeed and profit, giving them the intelligence they need every day to stay a step ahead. We do this though news and analysis that is published via our daily alerts, online website and monthly print magazine.
VCJ is seeking a junior reporter to cover venture capital deals, data trends, fundraising news, people announcements and other news and issues impacting the VC community worldwide. You'll write data reports, breaking news, opinion pieces and feature stories for VCJ and its companion website. You'll also have an opportunity to moderate panels at our conferences and other networking events.
The job is ideal for an up-and-coming reporter who believes he or she has ink in the veins. Our experienced editorial team will help you learn how to find stories and digest the bits and pieces into manageable and must-read articles for our venture community audience.
Our San Francisco Bay Area office is based in Jack London Square area of Oakland. At times, you may also need to work remotely, such as in San Francisco or on the Peninsula, where a number of VC firms are located.
Pore over the Thomson Reuters database to produce VC-related reports (in Excel) on deals, fundraising, M&A and other VC trends
Write news briefs on deals, fundraising, personnel moves and other VC events based on press releases, blog posts, regulatory filings and other sources
Attend VC conferences, including our own PartnerConnect and Emerging Manager series, and write reports on-site
Track news coverage on the Internet and write summaries of breaking stories on venture capital
Learn to develop sources and write original features and news stories, including fund profiles, Q&As with industry sources and trend pieces
Potentially moderate panels at networking events that we host around the country
Ideal candidate has less than three years of writing or journalism experience
Basic computer skills. Proficient at Word and Excel programs. Our website backend runs on WordPress. Social media skills to help promote stories and engage with audience is also a must.
An interest or an understanding of tech or business reporting, particularly venture capital, is preferred
