Georgia observes the following as official holidays:

The governor of Georgia is mandated to designate at least one of the following dates as a legal holiday: January 19, April 26, or June 3, or another suitable date (GA Code Sec. 1-4-1).
State employers. By law, employees of the government of Georgia are entitled to days noted as paid days off. In addition, state employees may request time off for religious holidays not on the preceding list. The request should be made at least 7 days before the requested day off for priority consideration. Accrued compensatory time or annual leave may be used to take the day off.
Private employers. Private employers are not required by state law to provide any holidays as paid (or unpaid) days off; however, most Georgia employers observe at least seven paid holidays.
When a holiday falls on a Sunday, it is observed on the following day.
Employees of any state department or agency may request priority consideration for time away from work for observance of religious holy days not otherwise provided for by law. The request must be made at least 7 days in advance of the need for leave.
