Texas Hours of Work: What you need to know

An employer in a retail establishment may not require an employee to work 7 consecutive days and may not deny an employee at least one period of 24 consecutive hours of time off in each 7-day period. An employer must accommodate the religious beliefs and practices of an employee, unless the employer can demonstrate that doing so would be an undue hardship on the employer. An employer may not require an employee to work during a period that the employee requests to be off to attend one regular worship service a week of the employee's religion. These rules do not apply to employment of a part-time employee whose total work hours for the employer are not more than 30 hours a week (TX Admin. Code Sec. 52.001).
