Colorado Minimum Wage: What you need to know

You can find your state’s minimum wage rate and tip credit laws at http://hr.blr.com/state-comparison-charts/Updated-Minimum-Wage-Chart.Under state law, if a higher minimum wage rate is established by federal law or regulations, employers must pay the higher rate (CO Rev. Stat. Sec. 8-6-106).
The Colorado Minimum Wage Order issued by the state Department of Labor and Employment regulates wages, hours, working conditions, and procedures for employers and employees subject to the minimum wage law in Colorado (7 CO Code of Regs. Sec. 1103-1).

The Wage Order covers employees in the following industries:
Retail and service. Any business or enterprise that sells any service, real estate, merchandise, or similar item to the consuming public (not for resale) and that generates 50 percent or more of its business from such sales. The retail and service industry also includes amusement and recreation, public accommodations, banks, credit unions, and savings and loans.
Commercial support service. Any business or enterprise that provides services to other commercial firms through the use of service employees who perform duties such as clerical, keypunching, janitorial, laundry or dry cleaning, security, building or plant maintenance, parking attendance, equipment operations, and landscaping and grounds maintenance. Commercial support service also includes temporary help firms that provide employees to any business or enterprise covered by the Wage Order.
Food and beverage. Any business or enterprise that prepares and offers for sale food or beverages for consumption, including, but not limited to, restaurants, snack bars, drinking establishments, catering services, fast-food businesses, country ...
