Nebraska Paychecks: What you need to know

“Wages” means compensation for labor or services rendered by an employee, including fringe benefits, when previously agreed to if agreed to conditions for receipt of the benefits have been met by the employee, whether the amount is determined on a time, task, fee, commission, or other basis. Paid leave, other than earned but unused vacation leave, provided as a fringe benefit by the employer, is not included in the wages due at the time of separation, unless the employer and the employee or the employer and the collective-bargaining representative have specifically agreed otherwise. Wages includes commissions on all orders delivered and all orders on file with the employer at the time of separation of employment, unless the employer and employee have specifically agreed otherwise through a contract effective at the beginning of employment or at least 90 days before separation, whichever is later (NE Rev. Stat. Sec. 48-1229).
Employers must pay employees, including commissioned sales representatives, wages and fringe benefits on regular paydays, designated in advance by the employer or agreed on by the employer and employees (NE Rev. Stat. Sec. 48-1230). Employees must be notified 30 days in advance of changes in the regular paydays.
An employer may deduct amounts from an employee's wages if required or permitted by law, or if authorized in writing by the employee.
