Iowa Notices (Posting): What you need to know

Iowa requires that employers post a number of notices informing employees of their rights and obligations under various employment laws. The notices must be placed conspicuously enough to be easily seen by employees entering and exiting the workplace. Most posters can be found at http://www.iowaworkforcedevelopment.gov.

Discrimination. As a remedial action, the Iowa Civil Rights Commission may require an employer to post Iowa's Equal Opportunity Is the Law notice (IA Code Sec. 216.15). The Iowa Workforce Development Agency recommends that all employees post this notice. More details are available at http://www.iowaworkforcedevelopment.gov.
Health and safety. Employers must post a notice of the protections and obligations provided for in the Health and Safety Act and include in the notice that for assistance and information, including copies of the Act and of specific safety and health standards, employees should contact the employer or the Department of Workforce Development, Division of Labor Services (Iowa Admin. Code Sec. 875-3.1 (88)).

Employers must also post any citations issued under Iowa's Occupational Safety and Health Act at or near the site of the violation and must post notice of any hazardous chemicals present (IA Code Sec. 88.7).
Minimum wage. Employers must post the provisions of the Iowa Minimum Wage Act (IA Admin. Code Sec. 875-216.4 (91D)).

Smoking. Under the Smokefree Air Act, employers must post "No Smoking" signs or the international no-smoking symbol at every entrance to the workplace or to vehicles that qualify ...
