Child labor. Washington law requires that employers post in plain view at least one copy of a valid permit to employ minors. Also, an order showing minimum wages, allowed hours and occupations, meal and break times, and other conditions of work governing minor employees must be posted in the workplace (WA Admin. Code Sec. 296-125-0224).
It is recommended that employers with eight or more employees display a notice provided by the Human Rights Commission titled "Washington Law Prohibits Discrimination in Employment." The poster is available for download at http://www.hum.wa.gov
Family leave. Employers must conspicuously display posters describing an employer's obligations and an employee's rights under the Family Leave Act. The poster must also describe all state laws regulating maternity and sick child leave and indicate that federal or local ordinances, laws, rules, or regulations may also apply. The poster must also include a telephone number and an address of the department to enable employees to obtain more information. Employers are also required to post their own leave policies, if any (WA Rev. Code Sec. 49.12.275 and WA Admin. Code Sec. 296-130-050).
