The New Mexico State Telework and Alternative Work Schedule Program mandates state agencies to establish and maintain written policies and guidelines that promote teleworking to increase productivity and reduce costs, as well as to decrease fuel use and commuter trips by state employees (Executive Order 2008-028).
State workers are allowed to telework regularly or occasionally after signing a telework agreement stating that they will adhere to the New Mexico State Personnel Board Telework Policy.
The New Mexico Department of Education Division of Vocational Rehabilitation manages the New Mexico Technology Assistance Program, which makes loans and financing available to employees with disabilities in order to purchase adaptive equipment and make modifications to home offices in order to allow these employees to telework. The New Mexico Department of Health encourages employees to include plans for teleworking for eligible employees and adequate technology support as part of their plans for a possible pandemic.
