Rules. Louisiana was granted state program approval in 1992. Louisiana's underground storage tank (UST) rules are similar to the federal rules. The state has a UST trust fund to cover releases from USTs, a certification requirement for installers, and its own fee system.

Louisiana has also adopted the federal delivery prohibition under the federal UST Compliance Act (USTCA). In addition, the DEQ has adopted secondary containment requirements that meet or exceed USTCA requirements and requires UST owners and/or operators to install secondary containment with new installations or replacements of tanks and/or piping, to install under-dispenser containment and submersible ...
