Comparison: State vs. Federal

Rules. South Carolina has its own federally approved workplace safety and health regulatory program, which includes a hazard communication standard, or worker right-to-know rule. The state rules govern both private and public sector workplaces. The state has adopted the federal right-to-know rule by reference. See the national section HAZARD COMMUNICATION STANDARD for a discussion of its requirements.
