Rules. Virginia follows the federal environmental requirements for MSDSs.

Virginia is a "state plan" state; that is, it has its own federally approved state job safety and health regulatory program. The Virginia Occupational Safety and Health Program (VOSH Program) governs MSDS requirements in both the public and private sectors. The state has adopted the standards of the federal OSH Act entirely, including the Hazard Communication Standard and MSDS requirements, so the state requirements are identical to the federal.
