Rules. Rhode Island has adopted by reference the federal lists of hazardous wastes. The federal lists are reviewed in the national section LISTED WASTES. In addition to the hazardous wastes listed under the federal rules, Rhode Island identifies additional hazardous wastes as Rhode Island Wastes. Administration and enforcement. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) administers and enforces the listed hazardous waste requirements in Rhode Island.
