Comparison: State vs. Federal

• Rules. Transporters of solid waste, waste tires, and sewage in Louisiana must register with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and meet all vehicle requirements. Waste tire transporters must also comply with a waste tire manifest system.

Administration and enforcement. DEQ administers the solid waste transporter rules in Louisiana and the rules for waste tire and sewage sludge transportation.

Solid waste transporters must submit a transporter notification form and the appropriate fees. An initial fee of $132 is charged for processing the notification, plus an additional fee of $33 per vehicle owned by the transporter. A copy of the notification form is available in Forms in this section.
