Rules. Alabama's rules for hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDFs) include the federal rules and some more stringent state requirements. The state's more stringent rules cover facility permits, facility fees, preapproval of waste disposal, design requirements and standards, biennial reports, waste analysis plans, contingency plans, and groundwater standards.

Administration and enforcement. ADEM's Governmental Hazardous Waste Branch administers and enforces the hazardous waste TSDF management requirements in Alabama.
