Comparison: State vs. Federal

Rules. Arizona's rules for hazardous waste TSDFs include the federal rules and some more stringent state requirements. The state's more stringent rules cover facility registration, fees, permits, release notification, closure, annual reports, manifests, containment systems for hazardous waste underground storage or treatment tanks, disposal in landfills, and P2 requirements.

Administration and enforcement. ADEQ's Waste Programs Division administers and enforces Arizona's hazardous waste TSDF requirements.

AZ Rev. Stat. 49-929

All Arizona TSDFs, except hazardous waste resource recovery facilities as defined in AZ Rev. Stat. 49-930, are required to register annually with ADEQ. Registration is valid for 1 year from the date of registration. TSDFs pay a $1,500 registration fee plus $2 per ton of hazardous waste received during the preceding calendar year for treatment, ...
