Comparison: State vs. Federal

Rules. Missouri's Clean Water Act and water quality standards establish numerical water quality standards for groundwater. Missouri has adopted the federal regulations for groundwater monitoring at hazardous waste TSDFs with additional monitoring and protection procedures. In addition, the state has specific groundwater remediation regulations, monitoring well installation standards and requirements for heat pumps that use groundwater.

Administration and enforcement. DNR administers and enforces the state's groundwater water quality, monitoring, and protection rules.
