Tennessee Counseling Services/ EAPs: What you need to know

Human resources generalists, as well as employee assistance program (EAP) counselors, managers, and directors, can keep abreast of the issues related to EAPs by joining a chapter of the EAPA. These groups also provide guidance to employers that have not yet set up EAPs in their own companies.

There are currently three local chapters of the EAPA in Tennessee. The Middle Tennessee chapter has its own website,http://www.mteapa.org, as does the East Tennessee chapter, http://www.eapaeasttn.org. Tennessee employers may obtain information about setting up or belonging to a regional group by contacting:

All full-time state and higher education employees and their eligible family members are covered by the ParTNers EAP, which is provided by Magellan Health Services, regardless of whether they participate in the State’s Group Insurance Program through ParTNers. Also, local education (K-12) and local government employees who participate in any of the state’s medical insurance plans and their eligible family members may also use EAP services. No-cost counseling is available for problems, including stress, adjusting to change, depression and anxiety, child care and elder care, family or parenting issues, alcohol or drug dependencies, grief and loss, marital or relationship issues, work/life balance, and financial issues.
