Arizona is a “state plan” state; that is, it has a federally approved occupational safety and health regulatory program. The Arizona Occupational Safety and Health Act governs workplace safety and health, including safety data sheet (SDS) requirements, in both the public and private sector workplaces. SDS requirements for workplace safety and health in Arizona mirror the federal regulations. The SDS requirements for pesticide applicators are stricter than federal standards.

The Arizona Industrial Commission Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) administers and enforces occupational safety and health requirements in both public and private sector workplaces. The Arizona Department of Agriculture (ADA) administers and enforces the requirements for pesticide applicator licensing.

Registration
AZ Admin. Code R 3-3-702

Anyone who registers a pesticide in the state must include an SDS with the registration fee for each year of the registration.

Recordkeeping
AZ Admin. Code R 4-29-609

Licensees and certified applicators must keep copies of labels and SDSs at the registered business locations for currently registered pesticides used in their pest control operations.

Storage Facility
AZ Admin. Code R 4-29-606

Every pesticide business licensee must maintain a label and an SDS at the storage facility for each pesticide stored in the storage facility (includes a designated storage space on a service vehicle).
