Utah MSDS : What you need to know

· Rules. The state has adopted the federal community right-to-know rules by reference, including the rules for submitting chemical information to LEPCs and local fire and police departments. MSDSs for all chemicals used at a public water system must be easily accessible to facility operators.

Utah is a "state plan" state and has its own federally approved state job safety and health plan, the Utah Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1973. This Act governs MSDS requirements in both the public and private sectors. The state has adopted the federal workplace safety requirements for MSDSs by reference. · Administration and enforcement. DEQ administers the MSDS and chemical reporting requirements under community right-to-know and public water systems rules. UOSH enforces MSDS compliance through its Hazard Communication Program in both the private and public sector workplaces.
