The state has adopted the federal rules that require employers to report fatalities or the hospitalization of three or more employees to the nearest state OSHA office within 8 hours of either the occurrence or the time it became known to any agent of the employer. Iowa employers can call 877-242-6742 to make these reports 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays.
