New Mexico Illness and Injuries: What you need to know

New Mexico has adopted the federal workplace recordkeeping requirements for illness and injury reports and maintenance of employee medical records by reference (11.5.1.16 NMAC).

Reporting fatalities and multiple hospitalizations. The state has adopted the federal fatal or serious accident reporting requirements. Fatalities and the hospitalization of more than 3 workers must be reported within 8 hours of the incident to the New Mexico Environmental Department in person or by telephone.

The New Mexico Environment Department/Occupational Health and Safety Bureau (OHSB) administers and enforces workplace safety and health rules in the state.
