The state has adopted the federal rules that require employers to report fatalities or the hospitalization of three or more employees to the nearest state workplace safety and health regulatory office within 8 hours of either the occurrence or the time it became known to any agent of the employer. Employers should call 919-779-8560 or 800-625-2267 during working hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to report fatalities and/or hospitalizations.
