South Carolina Illness and Injuries: What you need to know

South Carolina has adopted the federal recordkeeping requirements for work-related illness and injury reports and maintenance of employee medical records by reference (R. 71-300 to 71-346, and R. 71-600).

Reporting fatalities and multiple hospitalizations. The state has adopted the federal fatality and injury reporting requirements by reference. Employers must report workplace fatalities and the hospitalization of more than 2 employees in an incident to the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation by telephone at 803-896-7672.

The South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation/Occupational Safety and Health Administration administers safety and health rules in private and public sector workplaces.
