Help for Employers with 'Play or Pay' Decision on Health Care Coverage

New Infographic Explains Choices, Penalties under ACA

Brentwood, TN —May 15, 2013—Before January 1, 2014, employers covered by the employer responsibility provision of the health care reform law—also known as the Affordable Care Act (ACA)—will need to decide if they will provide health care insurance to their employees or pay the penalties for not doing so.  This decision is commonly referred to as 'play or pay.'

Under the ACA, 'applicable large employers' are subject to the play or pay provision. For many employers, making the determination as to whether they are an applicable large employer is not straightforward. Once this determination is made, any applicable large employer deciding whether to play or pay needs to fully understand the implications and costs of the two potential penalties for not providing adequate and affordable coverage.
