BLR Launches Online State Law Comparison Tool for HR Professionals

June 1, 2015. Brentwood, TN – BLR® - Business & Legal Resources, a leading provider of information services for management, announces the launch of State Law Chart Builder, a new online employment law compliance tool for Human Resources professionals with employees in multiple states.

State Law Chart Builder is the first online system to summarize, in plain English, employer rights and obligations in each state in the U.S., under the most complex areas of employment law.

“Every state in the country has its own set of laws covering everything from employee privacy rights to overtime to what can be on a hiring application,” says Patricia Trainor, JD, Vice President for HR & Compensation Markets at BLR. “State Law Chart Builder lets HR professionals see at a glance what they can and can’t do, and better answer policy and practice questions coming at them from employees and supervisors.”

State Law Chart Builder allows users to choose from a menu of 75 different employment law issues, such as meal and rest break requirements, regulation of off-duty conduct, permitted payroll deductions, paid sick leave, and medical marijuana. It then summarizes the relevant laws in the user’s preferred states and presents the results in an easy-reading chart.

“This new product represents the evolution of our best-selling manual, 50 Employment Laws in 50 States, into an online application,” says Dan Oswald, CEO. “Now HR can get answers instantly, and know that the content is always up to date with new laws and regs.”

BLR researched, summarized, and assembled the content of State Law Chart Builder with the assistance of the Employers Counsel Network (ECN), a national affiliation of attorneys representing management in employment law matters. With a different member attorney in every state, the ECN is uniquely positioned to deliver accurate and timely updates as needed.
