Safety.BLR.com Wins Gold Award for Innovation

The website was honored with a Gold Award for "Most Innovative Use of the Medium by an Online Subscription Newsletter or Website" in the competition, cosponsored by The Newsletter on Newsletters and the Subscription Website Publishers Association.

Safety.BLR.com was chosen over approximately 30 other websites entered in its category, said Paul Swift, editor and publisher of The Newsletter on Newsletters.

Now in its 31st year, the Online Publications Awards Competition is the oldest and most distinguished competition of its kind. The purpose of the competition is to recognize outstanding examples of online subscription newsletters and websites. Entries are judged on overall appearance, meaningful content, and ease of access and readability.

Launched in August 2003, Safety.BLR.com is a premier online source for safety training and compliance solutions.

"Our focus in developing this website was to create an affordable, easy-to-use, one-stop solution for safety professionals," said Steve Quilliam, managing editor of Safety.BLR.com. "This award is a tremendous honor as well as a confirmation that the direction we took early in the development process was correct."

Subscribers have access to thousands of customizable, downloadable safety training tools, including prewritten training meetings, PowerPoints, checklists, quizzes, and clip art--all organized under 90 different safety topics.

The core of the website's compliance information is its plain-English analysis of state and OSHA safety regulations. Subscribers also are kept up to date on the latest safety news, final and proposed regulations, and notices. OSHA full-text regulations and links to state full-text regulations also are available.

Safety.BLR.com features a Best Practices section consisting of safety white papers, case studies, and how-to guides. Subscribers can submit their toughest safety questions to be answered by BLR's safety experts in one business day.

In a recent article, Occupational Health & Safety Magazine said the website's comprehensive resources "make Safety.BLR.com a good tool for OSH professionals."
