Environmental Compliance in Your State and BLR's Environmental e-Lert have been honored with APEX 2003 Awards for Publication Excellence.
Launched in February, Environmental Compliance in Your State was one of just nine Award of Excellence winners in the category of New Web & Intranet Sites.
With close to 5,000 entries, this year's competition was exceptionally intense, according to John De Lellis, editor and publisher of Communications Concepts, which runs the competition.
APEX Awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence. The panel of judges for APEX 2003 included De Lellis, Christine Turner, contributing editor of Writing That Works, and Dr. Paul Fisher, Concepts senior evaluator and formerly professor of journalism with the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
"This award is an honor for our team of environmental attorneys and experts who've spent countless hours fusing the best environmental information available with the power and speed of the Internet," said Steve Quilliam, managing editor of Environmental Compliance online. "APEX has confirmed what we felt to be true, our service is the most powerful environmental compliance tool available."
Environmental e-Lert Garners Grand Award
APEX also selected BLR's Environmental e-Lert, which carries articles found on the Environmental Compliance website, as one of only three Grand Award winners in the category of For-Profit Newsletters. (Free subscription available, below.)
"Wonderful example of an outstanding HTML e-letter," the judges said of the Environmental e-Lert. "Clean, attractive layout and typography, excellent organization and crisp, concise, interesting writing combine to make it a keeper."
"The Environmental e-Lert follows in BLR’s 25-year tradition of providing quality information in a manner that helps our subscribers perform their job more effectively," said e-Lert editor and contributor Seb Parker. "This award is an honor and a testament to the legal expertise of our team of writers."
