Several occupations and industries are exempt from Wyoming's minimum wage provisions, including (WY Stat. Sec. 27-4-201 et seq.):
• Agricultural workers
• Domestic workers
• Outside salespeople paid solely by commission
• Government workers
• Workers in educational, charitable, religious, or nonprofit organizations in which no employer-employee relationship exists or who work on a voluntary basis
• Ambulance and other on-call vehicle drivers
• Administrative, executive, or professional employees
Employers may pay any employee who is under 20 years of age a subminimum wage during the first 90 consecutive days of employment (WY Stat. Sec. 27-4-202).
The reasonable cost or fair value of board, lodging, or other facilities customarily furnished by the employer for the employee's benefit may be considered part of wages.
Every employer with at least one employee who is covered by the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) must post a notice outlining the federal minimum wage requirements. This notice is available from any local Wage and Hour office:
