Employers with fewer than 10 employees working anywhere in the state must implement a sick time policy that allows an employee to earn and use up to 40 hours of unpaid sick time per year.
Special rules for large cities. There are special rules for employers located in a city with a population exceeding 500,000 (e.g., Portland).
If such an employer employs at least 6 employees working anywhere in the state, the employer must implement a paid sick time policy (as if the employer had 10 or more employees).
If the employer located in a city with a population exceeding 500,000 employs fewer than 6 employees working anywhere in the state, the employer must implement an unpaid sick time policy.
