Maine Advertising: What you need to know

Maine prohibits any employer, employment agency, or labor organization from printing or publishing (or causing to print or publish) a notice or advertisement relating to employment indicating any preference, limitation, specification, or discrimination based on race, color, sex, physical or mental disability, religion, age, ancestry, national origin, or sexual orientation (ME Rev. If an employer advertises for workers during a strike, lockout, or other labor disturbance, Maine law requires that all advertisements explicitly mention that the strike or lockout exists (ME Rev. Stat. Tit. 26 Sec. 938).
