• Rules. Federal rules governing the combustion of hazardous waste in boilers and industrial furnaces have been promulgated under the Clean Air Act and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). Kentucky has adopted the source-specific NESHAP, also known as the maximum achievable control technology (MACT) standard, for hazardous waste combustors.
