The federal rules for the management of chlorofluorocarbon (CFC), hydrochlorofluorocarbons, and other ozone-depleting substances are effective in Iowa, although the state has not incorporated the rules into its own regulations. Iowa has state requirements for the demanufacturing of appliances before disposal in order to ensure the proper reclamation, recycling, and disposal of refrigerants, including CFCs.
