Comparison: State vs. Federal

Rules. The federal rules relating to chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) management are effective in Missouri, although the state has not incorporated the rules into its own regulations. There is no state program for recycling CFCs. Follow the federal guidelines, and see the national section CFC MANAGEMENT for more information.

In addition, Missouri prohibits the sale or distribution of any polystyrene foam product manufactured with CFCs.

Administration and enforcement. EPA administers and enforces the federal CFC management requirements. Missouri's DNR administers and enforces the polystyrene products restriction.
