Numerous states have passed environmental audit privilege laws or have created policies that under certain circumstances provide for reduced penalties for violations discovered as a result of an environmental audit. New Hampshire has repealed environmental audit legislation. However, the state encourages companies to handle environmental affairs in a comprehensive and proactive manner, including the use of environmental management systems.
