• Rules. The counterpart to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Virginia is DEQ. DEQ has received authorization from EPA to implement state air, water, and waste management rules.
• Administration and enforcement. DEQ administers and enforces the state's environmental laws and regulations.
