• Rules. The federal pollution prevention (P2) requirements, which are reviewed in the national section POLLUTION PREVENTION, are effective in Louisiana. The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) may require P2 as part of its air pollution control requirements, waste reduction analysis, and beneficial environmental projects (BEPs).

The state follows the federal rules for stormwater and requires that certain permitted construction and industrial activities develop and implement stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs).
