Comparison: State vs. Federal
• Rules. Mississippi has adopted its own rules that are stricter than federal rules for solid waste landfill personnel, underground storage tank (UST) installer, alterer, and remover continuing education, and wastewater system operators.
• Administration and enforcement. The DEQ administers and enforces hazardous waste TSDF training requirements, asbestos and lead-paint abatement certification, solid waste landfill training, stormwater prevention and control training requirements, UST personnel certification, and wastewater system certification.
