Rules. Louisiana was granted state program approval in 1992. Louisiana's underground storage tank (UST) rules are similar to the federal rules. The state has a UST trust fund to cover releases from USTs, a certification requirement for installers, and its own fee system.

Louisiana has also adopted the federal delivery prohibition under the federal UST Compliance Act (USTCA).
