Comparison: State vs. Federal

· Rules. Nebraska does not have an OSHA-approved regulatory program. Therefore, Nebraska follows federal safety and health program requirements for hazard communication for all private sector employees.

Nebraska has adopted its own rules for public sector employers, who are expected to follow the requirements of the federal HCS.

· Administration and enforcement. OSHA administers and enforces the HCS requirements for private sector employers in Nebraska. DOL administers and enforces the HCS for public sector employers in Nebraska.
