Comparison: State vs. Federal

Rules. Ohio's closure and post-closure rules for hazardous waste TSDFs are the same as the federal requirements. In addition to complying with the general closure and post-closure standards, owners and operators of the various types of TSDFs must meet closure and post-closure standards specific to their facility types. Ohio follows the federal rules specific to hazardous waste containers, tanks, surface impoundments, land treatment units, and hazardous waste landfills.

Administration and enforcement. OEPA's Division of Hazardous Waste Management administers and enforces the TSDF closure and post-closure requirements in Ohio.
