Rules. Louisiana follows the federal requirements for generators accumulating (storing) hazardous waste on-site without a permit through its adoption of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule, effective in Louisiana as of July 20, 2020. Louisiana has added several more stringent rules regarding a container stacking restriction for permitted hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDFs) and on-site generator storage requirements.
