Rules. Oklahoma adopts by reference the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule, effective in the state as of September 15, 2018, which includes standards that allow generators to treat hazardous waste on-site. See the state sections ACCUMULATION TIME, HAZARDOUS WASTE STORAGE, and LAND DISPOSAL RESTRICTIONS to review the requirements applicable to generators treating hazardous waste on-site.

The state adopts by reference the federal treatment rules for both permitted and interim-status hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDFs). The state has added more stringent state hazardous waste treatment rules in connection with permits and fees for hazardous waste treatment facilities.

Administration and enforcement. The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality's (DEQ) Land Protection Division administers and enforces the hazardous waste treatment rules in Oklahoma.
