Comparison: State vs. Federal
• Rules. The federal rules for land disposal restrictions (LDRs) and best demonstrated available technology (BDAT) are in effect in Louisiana. The state has added several more-stringent state standards. The state has additional requirements for persons seeking an exemption from the LDRs and additional requirements for persons seeking to dispose of prohibited wastes in an underground injection well. In addition, the state requires waste minimization plans from large quantity generators (LQGs) and treatment, storage and disposal facilities (TSDFs).
