Rules. The federal land disposal restrictions (LDRs) are in effect in Maryland. See the national section LAND DISPOSAL RESTRICTIONS/LAND BAN for a review of these rules.

Administration and enforcement. Although the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) has received authorization from EPA to enforce the state's hazardous waste management rules, Maryland has yet to incorporate the federal LDRs into its hazardous waste management program. Until MDE adopts these federal rules or more stringent state standards, the EPA Region 3 office will enforce the land disposal restriction requirements in Maryland.
