• Rules. The federal regulations for land treatment facilities are in effect in Iowa.

Administration and enforcement. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Region 7 office administers and enforces the land treatment rules in Iowa. In fact, the EPA administers and enforces all of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act hazardous waste management requirements, because the state has not had EPA implementation authorization since 1985 and has no plans to apply for it in the near future.
