Comparison: State vs. Federal

Rules. New Jersey has incorporated by reference the federal rules for land treatment. There are no additional state requirements. In addition, owners and operators of hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDFs) that use hazardous waste land treatment facilities must comply with additional permit application requirements and pay several state permit and facility fees. The state's stricter permit standards and fees are reviewed in the state section TSDF PERMITS.

Administration and enforcement. DEP's Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Program administers and enforces the land treatment requirements in New Jersey.
