Comparison: State vs. Federal
• Rules. Indiana has adopted the federal requirements for hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDFs). The state also has additional state requirements for biennial reports, contingency plans, manifests, hazardous waste determination and state wastes, financial responsibility, facility permits, fees, and land disposal of hazardous waste.
• Administration and enforcement. IDEM's Compliance and Response Branch administers and enforces the TSDF responsibility requirements in Indiana.
Indiana uses the federal biennial reporting form with some additional state reporting forms that include closure and post-closure cost estimates and names and addresses of transporters and off-site TSDFs. See the state section BIENNIAL REPORT for more information.
