Universal waste rules: Rules and Regulations of the State of Georgia 391-3-11-.18
Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Environmental Protection Division Land Protection Branch Hazardous Waste Compliance Program
See national section for basic information and federal regulations.
• Rules. Georgia has adopted by reference the federal regulations for universal wastes found at 40 CFR 273. There are no additional state requirements.
In addition, Georgia's adoption of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule, effective in Georgia as of September 28, 2017, affected the state's universal waste requirements primarily by changing the name of the smallest class of hazardous waste generator to "very small quantity generator (VSQG)."
• Administration and enforcement. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources' (DNR) Land Protection Hazardous Waste Management Branch administers and enforces the universal wastes rule in Georgia.
