Rules. Virginia has received primacy from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to administer the requirements of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). See the national section DRINKING WATER for more information about the federal requirements under the SDWA.

The state's Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Program provides funding for various technical assistance activities and construction projects. The DWSRF Program receives both federal and state funding.
