National holidays. Public offices may be closed and Texas government employees are entitled to days noted as paid days off on state and national holidays.
State holidays. On all state holidays, except those on Friday after Thanksgiving and December 24th and December 26th, there must be enough employees at work in state offices so that the agency's public business may be conducted. A state employee who works on one of these days will receive another day off in compensation. State employees may take off Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, or Good Friday in place of any observed holiday listed.
Private employers are not obligated by state law to provide any holidays as paid (or unpaid) days off.
